parrot behavior consultation including biting, screaming, feather plucking, aggression,
diet nutrition, environment, grooming, handfeeding, cage cleaning
Welcome to Heather's Feathers Aviary and Behavioral Consultation. I have owned or been owned by parrots for around nine years now. I have some experience in wild bird rehabilitation and have released several successful crows and a (handfed from day 7) scrub jay who still visits our home two years later. Many people are afraid to buy or adopt older or "second hand"
companion parrots since many of them lost their first homes because of behavioral
issues such as biting, screaming or aggressive behavior. Most "bad" behaviors
started as misunderstandings between the owner and the parrot, and with
reinforcement became habits. Let us show you how to teach these birds better behavior, and a
"second hand" bird can be a joyful addition to your home. Parrots are becoming very popular and many people fall in love with baby birds and are at a loss when this baby grows up and displays a teenager's attitude and personality, along with unpleasant behaviors that teenagers of all species exhibit. Don't give up on your parrot teenager, give us a call or email. We can help you get that teen bird back on track and renew your relationship. As you click through the pages, please be patient. There are lots of good pictures and it does take some time to load. They are worth it!
Our MissionOur mission is to better the lives of companion parrots, through education, consistent training and unconditional love. We work with owners and their birds to provide the ideal environmental and emotional home for companion parrots. We provide safe, healthy, hygienic grooming for beaks, wings and toenails, without unnecessary stress or trauma for the bird.
Who We AreMy name is Heather S. Kinzy. I became involved with parrots over 9 years ago. As the years have passed my husband Kevin and I acquired pet parrots and adopted 3 rescue/behavior rehab birds and have helped many people with their birds over the years. I became involved in crow and other wild bird rehabilitation after finding an injured young male crow and healing, then releasing him. My interest and passion for parrots grew and them I decided to help people enjoy their parrots more. My way of doing so was to start behavioral consultation full-time. After working over a year and a half in a high quality exotic parrot store in Cypress, California, I soon discovered that many people love their birds, but need help with training, bird behavior and diet. Many of them do not know there are behavioralists who can help them. Click on the thumbnails to see the larger picture. We are based in Downey, Los Angeles County, California. We are members in good standing of the following worthwhile organizations: South Bay Wildlife Rehab, West Valley Bird Society, Orange County Bird Breeders Association, American Federation of Aviculturists, Parrot Education and Adoption Center, South Bay Bird Society and Phi Theta Kappa.
We are available 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. Pacific Standard Time, seven days a week.
