Penny is a Hahn's Macaw, which is the smallest of all the macaw species. When we first got her, she was completely out of control, and her first owner could not handle her without being bitten. We took her and after a year and a half of her training and my bleeding, she finally calmed down. She was three when we got her, and now that she is eight years old, we cuddle with her and she preens my eyelashes and eyebrows. She loves the camera, and poses quite well. She says Alright!, Step Up, Pretty Bird, and whispers quite a lot. She loves to severely beat up small stainless steel dishes and bells of all kinds. Penny is very aggressive with other birds, and beat up a blue and gold macaw in her first home, leaving him huddled in the bottom of his cage hollering for rescue. She is also very cage protective. I can work in her cage with her on my shoulder, but not with her on or in the cage. But, other than that, she is also very affectionate. both Kevin and myself.
